Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of inspirational leadership on the organizational commitment of police personnel by considering the mediating roles of organizational trust and work motivation. In the face of increasingly complex policing responsibilities, leadership that inspires is expected to enhance personnel's trust in the organization and foster higher work motivation, which in turn strengthens organizational commitment. This study employed a quantitative research approach using a survey method involving police personnel. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The research model consisted of inspirational leadership as the independent variable, organizational commitment as the dependent variable, and organizational trust and work motivation as mediating variables. The findings indicate that inspirational leadership has a positive and significant effect on organizational trust, work motivation, and organizational commitment. Furthermore, both organizational trust and work motivation positively influence organizational commitment and significantly mediate the relationship between inspirational leadership and organizational commitment. These findings suggest that improving the quality of inspirational leadership within police organizations should be accompanied by efforts to strengthen organizational trust and enhance personnel's work motivation in order to sustain higher levels of organizational commitment. This study contributes to the development of organizational behavior theory while also providing practical implications for police institutions in formulating human resource development policies aimed at improving personnel performance and professionalism.
